Avery Hopwood (May 28, 1882 - July 1, 1928) was an American playwright who wrote farces such as Getting Gertie's Garter (1927). He established the Hopwood Award at the University of Michigan, an award later won by Arthur Miller for his first play.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio and he died in Juan-les-Pins, France.
