Lou Ferrigno (born Louis Jude Ferrigno to an Italian family on November 9, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York, USA) is an American bodybuilder and actor. Ferrigno has appeared in such television shows and movies as The Incredible Hulk, Pumping Iron — with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Franco Columbu — Sinbad of the Seven Seas, and Hercules.

He started training at 13 and won his first major title, NABBA Mr. Universe, in 1972 becoming the youngest ever winner at 21. He then went on to win the IFBB Mr. Universe in 1973. In 1974 his first attempt at Mr. Olympia saw him come 3rd. In the next year he again came 3rd and his attempt to beat Arnold Schwarzenegger was the subject of the 1977 docu-film Pumping Iron. Following this Ferrigno retired from bodybuilding competition for many years. At his peak Lou, at height 6 ft 5 in (1.95 m), weighed in at 275 lb (125 kg) and was the largest professional bodybuilder at that time.

In the early 1990s, Lou made a return to bodybuilding - competing in the 1992 and 1993 Mr. Olympia. Having finished 12th and 10th repectively, he then turned to the Olympia Masters - coming 2nd in 1994 to Robby Robinson. After this he permanetly retired from competitive bodybuilding.

Ferrigno has been 80% deaf since the age of three after an ear infection. He sees his loss of hearing as influential towards bodybuilding and his life: "...if I hadn't lost some of my hearing, I wouldn't be where I am now. It forced me to maximize my own potential. I had to be better than the average person to succeed."

On May 30, 1980 he married Carla Green who then became his manager. Carla is now a personal trainer. They have three children, Shanna, Louis, and Brent. In the summer of 2005, Shanna starred in the E! reality TV series, Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive.

Lou now plays himself during his guest appearances on the CBS show, The King of Queens.
