From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Doug Ingle was the organist, lead singer (with a distinctive vocal quality), and a major composer (though composing duties were shared) for Iron Butterfly's three most influential albums: Heavy, In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, and Ball. A couple of albums later, he burned out on touring and quit. Ingle reports in the liner notes to a rerelease of Iron Butterfly material that his quitting made the owner of Atlantic Records, Ahmet Eretgun, rather unhappy, and that this fairly put an end to his musical career.
