B.D. Wong (黃榮亮, pinyin: Huáng Rónglià ng) (born October 24, 1962) is an openly gay American actor who has had roles on All American Girl, Oz and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He has also had guest appearances on The X-Files and Sesame Street. His Broadway debut performance was in M. Butterfly. He is the only actor to be honored with the Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, Clarence Derwent Award and Theater World Award for the same performance. He was presented the Davidson/Valenti Award at the 14th Annual GLAAD Media Awards.
Born in San Francisco as Bradley Darryl Wong, he attended Lincoln High School before graduating from San Francisco State University. He is currently on the board of advisors for Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment (CAPE).
He and his (now ex-) partner, Richie Jackson, hired a surrogate mother to bear their child. The boy, Jackson Foo Wong, was one of a set of twins born on May 28, 2000. The child's twin, Boaz Dov Wong, died at birth, the result of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. Wong wrote a book, Following Foo: the Electronic Adventures of the Chestnut Man, about the experience.
In 2005 Wong directed the film Social Grace starring Margaret Cho.
