Golden Brooks (born December 1, 1970 in San Francisco, California) is an American actress.
Brooks has been featured in many films and television shows, and has appeared alongside actors such as Queen Latifah, and Kevin Bacon. Currently, she plays Maya Wilkes (Joan's sharp tongued secretary, and now acclaimed author)on the UPN sitcom, Girlfriends.
Before becoming an actress, Golden Brooks studied literature and sociology at UC Berkeley, and earned her Master's degree in at Sara Lawrence College in New York.
Brooks is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
