Ernst Toller was a German Communist playwright in the 20th century. He was born on 1 December 1893 in Samotschin, Posen and died on 22 May 1939 in New York City.
He lived some years at Heidelberg, Theaterroad.
He was involved in the 1919 Bavarian Soviet Republic along with other leading communists. This republic was short-lived and was defeated by right-wing forces.
