From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia

Bob Dorough (1923— ) is a bebop jazz pianist and vocalist.

A significant contribution of his, however, is as the voice and writer of many of the songs for Schoolhouse Rock, which appeared on Saturday mornings in the 1970s and 1980s on ABC television affiliates. (Dorough also directed many of the Schoolhouse Rock shorts.)

Born in Arkansas, Dorough also grew up in Texas. He moved to New York City in about 1950, working as a jazz musician and song writer. He has performed across the US and Europe, having lived in Paris for a time.

Besides the songs of Schoolhouse Rock, perhaps his most famous song was "Comin' Home Baby", made popular by Mel Tormé. He also has the distinction of being one of the few musicians to record a vocal performance on a Miles Davis album.
