Jennifer Ehle (born December 29, 1969 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA to British actress Rosemary Harris and American author John Ehle) is a stage and film actress. In 1992 she was plucked from drama school by Peter Hall to star in the mini-series The Camomile Lawn. She is arguably best known for her role as Elizabeth Bennet in the 1995 mini-series Pride and Prejudice (BBC), although she also won critical acclaim and a Tony Award for her portrayal of Annie in Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing in 2000.
Her latest stage performance was in September 2005. She played Tracy Lord in The Philadelphia Story by Philip Barry at London's Old Vic theatre, alongside Kevin Spacey.
Past romantic relationships include Toby Stephens, whom she met on The Camomile Lawn, and Colin Firth, with whom she starred in Pride and Prejudice.
She is married to the writer Michael Ryan, and they have a young son, George.
