Sonomanma Higashi (Higashi Sonomanma - 16th September, 1957 in Nagasaki-ken, Kyushu, Japan) is a Japanese actor who is very famous for his role in the Japanese gameshow, Takeshi's Castle during the late 1980's. Higashi played the role as head of the main group of guards and later progressed as he worked his way to become councillor and right-hand man to Takeshi Kitano after Saburo Ishikura (who was originally the right-hand man to Takeshi) walked out on the show. Before Takeshi's Castle, he featured in the television show, Waratte iitomo (1982) which kicked off his career in acting. Some of his roles in other programs include Darenimo ienai (translated as "I cannot tell anybody") which aired on TBS between 9th July, 1993 and 24th September, 1993. The show did poorly and only 12 episodes were produced. A few of the films that he starred in include: Shôjo (2001), Getting Any? (aka Minnâ-yatteruka!) (1995) and Shishiohtachi no natsu (1991).
