From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Randolph Mantooth (born September 19, 1945) is an American actor, best known for his work in the 1970s medical drama Emergency!, as well as his work on soap operas starting in the 1980s. Mantooth is half Seminole Indian.
His role on Emergency!, paramedic John Gage, first shot him to stardom. He played the role from 1972 to 1977. Later, he found it difficult to sustain any long-term acting roles until he appeared as Clay Alden (later Alex Masters) on the soap opera Loving, which he played from 1987 to 1990 and from 1993 to 1995. Mantooth reprised his role as Alex Masters on The City from 1995 to 1997.
From 2003 and from 2004 to 2005, Mantooth joined the cast as Hal Munson on As the World Turns taking over for Benjamin Hendrickson as a temporary replacement and later became a regular and after he left the soap, Hendrickson came back to the show.
Mantooth has been married to Kristen Connors since 2002. Formerly he was married to Rose Parra, and was once engaged to Three's Company actress Joyce DeWitt (the two called off their engagement).
