From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Alexandra Paul (born 29 July 1963 in New York City) is an American actress. She is probably best known for her role as Lt. Stephanie Holden in the television series Baywatch from 1992 to 1997. While she has appeared in over 50 movies and television programs, she is also a dedicated environmental and political activist.
Alexandra has often commited herself to civil disobedience in protest of some policy or action which she believes is wrong. In March 2003 she was arrested for protesting the war against Iraq and spent 5 days in jail. She was arrested on March 15, 2005, protesting the crushing of the environmentally-friendly EV1 cars, in Burbank, California; she parked her car in the way of the truck carrying the EV1's to the junkyard.
Apart from Baywatch, Alexandra is also known for her roles in movies like Christine (1983), the sleeper American Flyers (1985), and the Dragnet spoof (1987). Aside from acting, she has also hosted non-fiction tv shows, including WE's Winning Women and southern California local environmentalism show Earth Talk Today.
Alexandra also co-wrote and co-produced two documentaries: Jampacked, a documentary regarding the world human population crisis, and The Cost of Cool: Finding Happiness in a Materialistic World. Jampacked received a Bronze Apple Award and first place recognition at the EarthVision Environmental Film and Video Festival. The Cost of Cool won a CINE Golden Eagle Award.
Alexandra also competed at the 1997 Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii.
Her identical twin sister, Caroline Paul, was one of the first women to join the San Francisco Fire Department and has written a memoir entitled Fighting Fire: A Personal Story about her experiences.
