From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Jean-Marie Straub (born 8 January 1933 in France) is a French film director. He collaborates with Danièle Huillet and since 1963 the duo have made about two dozen austere films which blend high European culture with Marxist-influenced politics. Some titles include Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach (1967), History Lessons (1973), Moses und Aron (1974, an adaptation of Schoenberg's opera), Class Relations (1984), From the Clouds to the Resistance (1979), and Sicily (1999). Straub and Huillet currently reside in Rome.
