Nicole Elizabeth Reed (born January 17, 1988 in Los Angeles, California, USA), better known as Nikki Reed, is a teenage movie actress, producer and writer. She is the daughter of Seth Reed. Her nickname is "Nik".
Nikki Reed is best known for her participation in the 2003 film Thirteen.
Before the movie was made, Reed had had her share of wild moments as a teenaged girl. She was approached by another writer, the well known Catherine Hardwick to play Evie, a Hispanic, in the movie which would later on earn Holly Hunter a nomination for an Oscar award as Best supporting actress. Hardwick wanted to make a movie that reflected parts of her own life as a teenager. Apparently unknown to her, Reed's life had been similar to hers.
Thirteen was still unwritten, and the two of them set to write the script for the movie. As it turns out, the cooperative writing of the semibiographical film was done in only six days, a relatively fast time for a Hollywood script to be written.
Thirteen, it can be said, gave Reed a name in Hollywood: for many years, Reed had unsuccessfully attempted at becoming an actress. Not only did she participate in the film, but soon after she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on the September 15, 2003 broadcast. She also hosted a number of award shows in 2003 and 2004, including the Young Hollywood Awards (2003), and the Independent Spirits Awards Nomination Show, followed by the West Independent Spirits Awards, both in 2004.
Reed's father is Jewish and her mother is of Native American and Italian descent.
