From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Robert Crichton (born January 29, 1925; died March 23, 1993) was an American novelist.
Crichton served during World War II, earning the Bronze Star and Purple Heart before earning a degree from Harvard University and becoming a writer. His first novel, The Great Imposter, became an instant success in 1959. The story was adapted into a successful 1961 film. The Great Imposter also inspired the 2002 Steven Spielberg film Catch Me If You Can. Published in 1966, his second novel, The Secret of Santa Vittoria, was also adapted into a Golden Globe winning film in 1969.
