From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia

Anne Jeffreys (born January 26, 1923 in Goldsboro, North Carolina) is an American actress and singer.

Born Anne Carmichael, she was trained at a young age under her mother's management, and entered the entertainment industry by signing with the John Robert Powers agency as a junior model. She got her first role in the musical Fun for the Money. This led to her first movie role in I Married an Angel (1942), starring Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald.

She starred in several movies in the 1940s, for example in the musical Step Lively (1942) opposite Frank Sinatra. She failed to make a real impact however and her career faltered. She instead focused on her stage career, starring in productions such as the Broadway musical My Romance. She married actor Robert Sterling in 1951, and they were both cast in the 1953 sitcom Topper.

After a semi-retirement in the 1960s, she returned to star in television, appearing in episodes of such TV series as L.A. Law and Murder, She Wrote, as well as soap operas such as Bright Promise and General Hospital. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her work in The Delphi Bureau (1972). She also appeared in Baywatch as David Hasselhoff's mother. Her most recent role was in the TV drama Port Charles.

She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1501 Vine Street.
