From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Wayne Rogers (born in Birmingham, Alabama on 7 April 1933) is an American film and television actor, best known for playing the role of 'Trapper John' McIntyre in the long-running U.S. television series, M*A*S*H. The show started in 1972 and he left it in 1975, after the third season. It is said he left because his character had no devolopment whatsoever, this including disputes about his contract. He succeeded the role from Elliot Gould in the movie and he was succeeded by Pernell Roberts on the M*A*S*H spin-off Trapper John, M.D.
Rogers graduated from Princeton University with a history degree in 1954 and served in the Navy before becoming an actor. He is a graduate of the Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. He is currently married to Amy Hirsh, whom he married in 1988. In 1979, he divorced his first wife, whom he married in 1960 and had two children with.
He has guest starred five times in Murder, She Wrote, playing Charlie Garrett. He has also been in shows such as The F.B.I. and Gunsmoke. He has also been an executive producer and producer in both television and film, a writer, and a director.
Since retiring from acting, Rogers has launched a successful career as an investor and is a frequent guest on the FOX News financial program Cashin' In.
