George Seaton (April 17, 1911 - July 28, 1979) was an American playwright, film director and producer.

He began his career as a radio actor in Detroit, Michigan and is credited as being the first actor to play The Lone Ranger.

He was nominated for the 1954 Academy Award for Directing, for The Country Girl. He received The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1961.

Born in South Bend, Indiana. He died of cancer in Beverly Hills, California.
