Nevill Coghill (1899-1980) was a British literary scholar, known especially for his modern English version of Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.
He was a fellow of Exeter College, Oxford. He was Merton Professor of English Literature of the University of Oxford from 1957 to 1966.
His Chaucer and Langland translations were first made for BBC radio broadcasts. He was well known in his time as a theatrical producer in Oxford. He was an associate of The Inklings literary group.
