Tony Atlas

Mr. USA, Tony Atlas (born Anthony White) is a former World Wrestling Federation tag team champion, along with Rocky Johnson, the father of The Rock. They were the first WWF tag team champions of African descent (Johnson is African-Canadian). They won the championship from Afa and Sika, the Wild Samoans.

Career

Tony Atlas (1944-), born Anthony White, started wrestling in 1974 as "Mr. USA" Tony Atlas. Atlas was a "Mr. USA" bodybuilder prior to entering professional wrestling. He started in the NWA and immediately feuded with the anti-American Ivan Koloff and the Iron Sheik.

During his career, Atlas worked for WCW, the NWA's Jim Crockett Promotions, the WWC, WCCW, the AWA and the WWF.

Among his regular partners were Tommy Rich (as "TNT"), Dick Murdoch and Rocky Johnson.

While his year of birth is often reported as either 1954 or 1956, the correct year of his birth is in fact 1944.
