Bruno Kirby is the son of actor Bruce Kirby. Bruno Kirby is an American character actor who is a supporting character in many films. He made his film debut (and perhaps now the biggest name in the cast) in the little seen The Young Graduates (1971), before being cast as Richard C. Castellano's son on the sitcom The Super. Ironically that year, Castellano was in The Godfather (1972) as hefty Clemenza, a prominent member of the Corleone crime family, a role Kirby would play as the young version in the sequel, The Godfather: Part II, which helped raise the actor's profile in Hollywood.

Described by film critic Leonard Maltin as the guy cast as the quintessential New Yorker or cranky straight man, Kirby has carved a career out of this in a series of comedies, most well known with The Freshman, Good Morning, Vietnam as a jealous U.S. Army officer in denial of his mediocre comedy, and City Slickers, turning in wonderful work as a sporting goods store owner and best friend of Billy Crystal. With that association with Crystal, one of his more memorable roles is that of Crystal's best friend in When Harry Met Sally perfectly matching Crystal word for word with chemistry. But he's also a dramatic actor and proved himself in Donnie Brasco and Sleepers (in an unusual transformation).

Kirby married actress Lynn Sellers in 2004.
