From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Julie Bovasso (born August 1, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York; died September 14, 1991 in New York City) was an American actress.
Bovasso was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1930. She appeared in many films, including such famous ones as Saturday Night Fever and Moonstruck, where she played stereotypical Italian-American matrons; and in Off-Broadway shows, such as Jean Genet's The Maids, for which she won the very first Best Actress Obie (Off-Broadway) Award in the mid-1950s, which was presented to her by Shelley Winters; she also was known as a writer, with her writing credits including Gloria and Esperanza.
She died of cancer in 1991 at the age of 61.
