Kajol Devgan, née Mukherji (Devanagari काजोल देवगन) (born August 5, 1975), popularly known as Kajol, is a Bollywood actress.
Scion of prominent film clan
Kajol comes from a family with a strong film industry background. Her mother Tanuja is an actress; her cousins Rani Mukherji, Sharbani Mukherjee and Mohnish Behl are also part of the industry. She is related to Nutan (her aunt), Shobhana Samarth (her grandmother) and Ratan Bai (her great grandmother). Her younger sister Tanisha recently started a film career.
Kajol's career
Kajol has appeared in a great many movies. Not all of them have been hits; However, she has appeared in some of Bollywood's biggest hits, most notably the films in which she co-stars with Shah Rukh Khan: (Baazigar, Karan Arjun, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham).
She retired briefly from film-making after the birth of her daughter Nysa.
However, she recently signed a film with director Kunal Kohli. The film is to be called Fanaah (Destruction) and she will co-star with Aamir Khan.
She has also appeared on the famous TV show Kaun banega crorepati (the Indian version of Who wants to be a millionaire?) hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. She was paired with her husband Ajay Devgan. They won a million rupees and donated them to a cancer hospital in Chennai.
Personal life
Kajol married actor Ajay Devgan on February 24, 1999. She has one daughter, Nysa.
