Pete Burns is a singer/songwriter and the frontman of the New Wave band Dead Or Alive.

Known for his flamboyant style, Burns shocked audiences in the '80s with his androgynous dress (including skirts, stockings and high-heeled shoes, corsets and suits), exotic hairstyles and makeup, as well as a variety of specialty contact lenses, including black, full eye models. Almost as much as his career with Dead or Alive, Burns is known for his ever-changing appearance, which he freely admits has been enhanced by cosmetic surgery. Asked what drives his image, Burns had this to say:

It's a natural self-expression. I think too many people are repressed about their image or they just don't get the chance to have that form of self-expression. If I couldn't look the way I do, I'd be an incredibly unhappy person or an alcoholic or drug addict. I decorate my homes all the time, as soon as I get bored with things I change it and that's what I do to myself. What you see on the outside is what is on the inside, my body is merely a vehicle for is the real me. If you own a car, you change that every few years, and that's just what I'm doing with my appearance Source: .

Burns has had extensive collagen injections in his lips, along with cheek implants and nose jobs.

In December 2003, the BBC apologised to its viewers after Burns swore repeatedly on its Liquid News show when asked about the Michael Jackson case. He reportedly said "fuck it" and repeatedly said "twat" and "cum," leading presenters to apologise profusely to viewers (the show was aired at 8pm) Source: .

Burns divorced in 2004 after over twenty years of marriage. In the same year, he enjoyed a minor club hit in the form of the Pet Shop Boys produced single "Jack and Jill party". Although the single was only available through the Pet Shop Boys own website, it did reach the UK singles chart at number 75 and received considerable club play.
