From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia John Jarratt is an Australian actor born 5 August 1951 and currently garnering accolades for his portrayal of Mick Taylor in Wolf Creek. Taylor is memorable addition to the canon of movie psychopaths, standing alongside the likes of Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger - all the more surprising giving Jarratt's previous record of playing thoroughly decent blokes from down under.
Jarratt graduated from the Australian NIDA, the Australian national drama school in 1973. His screen career got off to a flying start with appearances in Peter Weir's Picnic at Hanging Rock in 1975 and Summer City in 1977 with a young Mel Gibson. In the almost 30 intervening years Jarratt has carved out a career combining film and television work. What makes his masterly performance in Wolf Creek even more surprising is that he hadn't appeared in a film since 1996 and is currently playing the affable Terry Dodge in Australian television series McLeod's Daughters.
In-between acting roles, Jarratt has worked as a builder and has presented his own building-themed show, Better Homes and Gardens. He is the father of five children, (Zadia, Ebony, Charlie, Will and Jackson)
