'Renato' is the stage name of at least 2 professional singers.
The first was born Renato Micallef in Malta, 1951. As well as local success on the music scene in Malta since the age of 12, he has toured North America, Australia and The United Kingdom where his website claims he won an award for Singer Of The Year in 1980, although it's uncertain what ceremony this was presented from.
In 1975 he represented Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing in 12th place. In 1990 he took part in the Cavan International Song Festival, again representing Malta, he sang the song Our Little World of Yesterday, in this contest he took 1st prize.
He has also hosted his own Television and Radio shows over the years and also toured with one of his favourite singers, Shirley Bassey. His record releases include Ave Maria and Lovin' You.
The second 'Renato' is also an opera singer, who is best known for his 1982 hit single Save Your Love (a duet, credited to 'Renee and Renato'), the record charted in the United Kingdom during October 1981 and by Christmas was at Number 1.
During the 1980's he also released an album, simply titled Renato and (with Renee) the single "Just One More Kiss", as well as singing the well known ice cream commercial slogan "Just one Cornetto".
Today he continues to perform live and makes regular TV appearances.
