From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Roger Roberts Avary (b. August 23, 1965) is a Canadian-born movie writer, producer and director.
He was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba, the son of a mining engineer, but grew up in Arizona. He attended the Art Center College of Design. In the early 1980s he moved to Manhattan Beach, California.
From around 1986 he began working in a local video rental store, where he met co-worker and future partner Quentin Tarantino. He did writing work on Reservoir Dogs (1992), True Romance (1993), although receives no screen credit on either of these) and, most notably, Pulp Fiction (1994) for which he and Tarantino won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. He also wrote and directed Killing Zoe (1994) with Tarantino as producer. He then moved into work for television and made two unsuccessful pilot episodes. He returned to cinema, writing the screenplay for the Bret Easton Ellis novel The Rules of Attraction (2002), he was also the director and executive producer.
