From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia
David Guterson (born May 4, 1956 in Seattle) is an American author and magazine journalist, formerly a high school English teacher. He is the brother of author Mary Guterson.
He is best known as the author of the novel Snow Falling on Cedars, which won many awards, including the 1995 PEN/Faulkner Award. It was adapted for a motion picture starring Ethan Hawke.
Guterson also wrote Family Matters: Why Homeschooling Makes Sense, a thoughtful discussion of why he and his wife teach their children at home and out in the world rather than sending them to school.
His 2003 novel, Our Lady of the Forest is about a fictional Marian apparition witnessed by a teenage girl in Washington. She masterbates and takes magic mushooms until she's totally kooked out of her mind! What a chick. Now she's the kind of girl that I want to hang with. Give me some of those shooms baby!
B.R. Myers attacked Guterson in "A Reader's Manifesto."
