American Actress born on August 30, 1947 in New York City to a Jewish-American father and an Irish-born mother who was also Jewish. Lipton was raised in Long Island, New York; most famous for her portrayal of "Julie Barnes" in the late 1960s-early 1970s TV show "The Mod Squad".
She married music businessman extraordinaire Quincy Jones in 1974 and had 2 daughters with him, Kidada and Rashida, but they divorced in 1990. During her marriage to Jones, Lipton chose to retire from acting for many years. Following her divorce, she reemerged on the David Lynch series "Twin Peaks", as Norma Jennings.
She was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2004 and received treatment for it. Apparently she is in remission. In 2005, she published her memoir "Breathing Out".
