Daniel Balavoine (born February 5, 1952 in Alençon - died January 14, 1986) is a French singer and songwriter. He was hugely popular in the French-speaking world, and inspired many singers in the 1980s, such as Jean-Jacques Goldman. He took part in the French political life, and is known for his televised 1980 intervention for François Mitterrand.
