Richard Chaplow (born February 2, 1985 in Accrington, England) is a professional footballer. He currently plays for West Bromwich Albion. He is 5'09 and weighs 11 stone.

Chaplow joined West Bromwich Albion from Burnley for a fee of £1.5million on transfer deadline day in January 2005. The Baggies had attempted to force the deal through several times during the transfer window but only managed to seal a deal for the promising midfielder at the death.

He broke into the Burnley first team at the end of the 2002/03 season, making his debut in a 2-0 defeat at Norwich City. And his first start came before the term was out, in another 2-0 defeat, at Nottingham Forest.

Chaplow became a regular in the Burnley side in 2003/04 and then flourished under new boss Steve Cotterill in 2004/05.

His creative midfield talents were there for all to see in January 2005 as Burnley sent Liverpool crashing out of the FA Cup in the Third Round.

Chaplow was only 18 when making the step up to the Premiership, although he is a player the Baggies will see as a star of the future rather than the saviour of their Premiership status.

He moved to the Hawthorns on a three-and-a-half year deal, with the option of a further season.

Chaplow played 74 games for the Clarets, scoring seven goals.
