Matthew Etherington (born August 14, 1981 in Truro, Cornwall) is a professional English football player. Etherington, a midfielder, currently plays with East London club, West Ham United, and wears squad number 12.
Etherington made the move to West Ham from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2003 for an undisclosed fee. He had struggled to establish himself during his three year stint at Tottenham, following his £700k transfer from Peterborough United (Simon Davies had joined Spurs as part of the same deal).
He has been a big hit at Upton Park following the move.
