From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Craig Fleming (born October 6, 1971 in Halifax, England) is a footballer who has played for Norwich City since 1997. A central defender, Fleming's performances throughout his career - wherever he has played - have been marked with professionalism and dependability, and as a result he has been held in high esteem by colleagues and supporters at all the clubs he has represented. He is also respected by opposing teams and fans.
Fleming began his professional career with his hometown club (69 appearances, no goals) before moving to Oldham Athletic, where he made 192 appearances and scored a goal. His spell at Oldham included three seasons in the top division in the early 1990's. In this period, Manchester United's manager Alex Ferguson described Fleming as "the best man-to-man marker in the country".
On October 23, 2004 he made his 300th senior appearance for Norwich City in their home match against Everton. He has scored 10 goals for the club during those 300 matches.
Fleming was a key figure in the Norwich side that won the first division championship in the 2003-2004 season, and the supporters recognised his outstanding contribution - not just during that season but over several years - by voting him as their player of the season ahead of Darren Huckerby (2nd) and Robert Green (3rd).
Curiously, the Leeds pop band Cud included a dedication to Craig Fleming on their 1992 album Asquarius.
